New York Fashion Week

I am not usually someone who wears a ton of color, but when I do wear color I like it to be bold. Red is especially my go to. With yesterday being Valentine’s Day, and this week being Fashion Week, I was inspired to break out my gorgeous, red, J.Crew jacket. I only wear it on special occasions, and after checking out all the street styles from bloggers and fashion moguls around the world who are in New York City for Fashion Week, this coat immediately inspired me to blog about the trend that I picked up on, tailored statement jackets, and how to incorporate one into your wardrobe.

DSC_0475 DSC_0477After looking through tons of captured street moments, tailored jackets and pant suit combinations worn as statement pieces proved to be one of the biggest style trends for the season. So many people walked the streets in head-turning outwear. It was beautiful. And fortunately this trend is extremely easy to incorporate into your own closet. The beauty of this seasons fashion trend is that tailored clothing is timeless. When you hear the word “tailored’, some people equate that with a high price tag. But adding a tailored statement piece to your wardrobe does not have to break the bank. For example, I got this jacket from a J.Crew outlet store, it has lasted me over 7 years, and it is still trendy and gorgeous. It might have been a little bit more expensive up front, but it was well worth the investment. My coat still looks like I just bought it yesterday, and with gentle care, it will and can last me a lifetime.

So when you hear the word “tailored”, do not freak out. Adding this seasons fashion trend to your wardrobe is easy, fashionable, and practical. Your jacket does not even have to be a luxury label. You can search around like I did, either online, or at a great outlet store. But if you do end up deciding on a luxury labeled coat, remember that it is a good investment. You’re jacket will last you an extremely long time if you take good care of it, and it will never go out of style. So go shopping! This one item will add great value to your wardrobe, and be the perfect fashion trend item for you this season.

Side note: My Hunter Boots in my photos were also a higher priced investment, but one of the best ones I have ever made. They have lasted me more than 4 years now, and they have gotten me through these rough Ohio winters. I highly suggest investing in a good pair of rain and winter boots, especially Hunters. They are the perfect shoe for harsh weather conditions. They are also really cute and practical. I could honestly do a whole blog post on them, and I probably will ;). But for now, I wanted to highlight this jacket.

I hope everyone had a lovely Valentine’s Day. Whether you are single, dating, or married, I hope you spent some time doing something you love or being with someone you love. And if yesterday was too much of a downer or the day slipped away from you, then do something you love TODAY… then repeat. 🙂 Happy Belated Valentines Day and Happy New York Fashion Week, which for me is a holiday in itself!
